And the grand winner of the 2026 Home Sapiens Challenge is… In-eau-vation!
The home of tomorrow, reimagined by students?
The Home Sapiens Challenge is a Greenwin initiative that gives student teams free rein to envision the home of the future: sustainable, innovative, and resolutely human-centered.
This year, the CEBEDEAU is participating by presenting a research topic to the teams, because designing the homes of tomorrow—in 2100—also means rethinking our relationship with a fundamental resource: water.
Our challenge:
“When imagining the homes of the future, you’re not just building walls: you’re reinventing the way we live with water, this precious resource that shapes life.”
We couldn’t wait to discover the teams’ creativity and share the wildest projects with you! So on April 23, during the closing ceremony at the NEF in Namur, one team rose to our challenge with flying colors. So much so that they won first place in the challenge!
In-eau-vation envisioned a resilient collective housing project capable of capturing moisture from the air, storing rainwater, and ensuring up to two years of complete water self-sufficiency—without a single drop of tap water. A ground floor designed to be flooded rather than protected, facades that produce drinking water, a central well that ventilates and collects… A bold vision that respects both people and nature.
Congratulations to Romane Maggio, Salomé Wilmotte, and Alexandre Zamora for this remarkable concept. You have successfully transformed a complex challenge into an inspiring solution for the future.
